These Semi-Rigid Rockal Rockwool Boards are mineral wool panels engineered for exterior continuous insulation, basement walls, and interior partitions needing added fire safety, acoustic performance, and moisture resistance. At R8 and 45kg/m³, they offer stronger thermal performance than thinner rockwool in the same 48"×24" footprint for 24" o.c. framing. Made from spun volcanic rock, the boards are non-combustible, water-repellent, and vapor-permeable, letting trapped moisture escape rather than degrade the assembly.
They're firm enough for exterior placement and friction-fit cleanly between framing, but aren't intended to bear structural load — they perform best where z-bars or furring carry the cladding load between boards. Rockwool's acoustic damping makes them a practical fit for mechanical rooms, party walls, and anywhere sound control matters alongside thermal performance.

It comes down to density and rigidity. High-density board (120 kg/m³) is our firmest option, built for demanding exterior and commercial applications. Semi-rigid board (50 kg/m³) is firm enough to hold shape and friction-fit between framing, but not meant to bear structural load — ideal where z-bars or furring take the load instead. Batt rockwool is soft and flexible, sized to friction-fit into standard wall cavities like fiberglass batts, with no rigidity at all. As you move from batt → semi-rigid → high-density, density and firmness go up, and so does suitability for exterior or load-adjacent use.
